Meningococcal update for Crook County

Crook County is experiencing an outbreak of meningococcal infection based on three cases during the last three months. County and State Public Health Officials recommend people ages 9 months through 25 years who live, work, or attend school or daycare in greater Prineville get a meningococcal vaccine.

Per the Crook County Health Department: People without insurance can receive vaccine at walk-in clinics on Monday, February 6th and Tuesday, February 7th at the Crook County Health Department, 375 NE Beaver Street in Prineville between the hours of 8:30 AM-11:30 AM and 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM, no appointments needed.

Note: Meningococcal disease in Deschutes and other surrounding counties over the last year are distinctly different from the Crook County cases. They are not related per the County Health Department press release.

 

Rite-Aid Prineville – 541-447-2466

  • Menactra Vaccine
  • Will give to customers 11-55 years without a prescription
  • Children 3 years through 10 years of age require a prescription from their physician
  • Cost $185.00; will bill insurance
  • Do not need appointment

Bi-Mart Prineville – 541-447-0395

  • Menactra Vaccine
  • Will not administer to children less than 11 years of age.
  • Cost approx. $150.00; will bill insurance

Clinic Pharmacy Prineville – 541-447-4111

  • Menactra Vaccine
  • Will give to customers 11-55 years without a prescription
  • Children 1 year through 10 years of age require a prescription from their physician
  • Cost approx. $148.00; will bill insurance

Walgreens Redmond – 541-548-1731

  • Menveo Vaccine
  • Will administer vaccine to customers 11 years or above
  • Cost  approx. $135.00; will bill insurance where applicable
  • Will not administer vaccine to children less than 11 years of age.

Hans Pharmacy Prineville – Not administering the vaccine
